Waiting for secret millionaire
Christmas season upon us, 'Man goes to Drs with a mincepie sticking out of his bum. Dr Says 'You'll need some cream on that!'.
The business is in place, ready for refit after Christmas, can't wait to see it brought into life, on the Newland Avenue.
Working, working working. Managed to catch The Scissor Sisters at Manchester MEN, been to the Hull City Hall to see Bjiorn Again and The Messiah, both in the same week!
Christmas Party at work featured Showaddy Waddy and me in Pink spangly flares, tank top and silver boots!
Can't wait for the day after Boxing day when A and I attend the panto, it's the Chuckle Bros this year, yeah...

I'm a celebrity, get me out of here!
Back from Scissor Sisters and Manchester. Scissor Sisters conquered Manchester and long may they continue to rule these shores. They even managed to make the Elton songs sound passable. Best quote of the night by Anna M, 'Do not throw chocolates at the fat girl'.
Manchester still seems in the middle of a vast building boom, stayed at The Place, lots of building work all around, took the Thai Beef Daube and seeded rice I prepared at college earlier, A helped himself to two bowls, prior to the gig.
Had lunch at Malmaison (at the end of the street) the following day, visited the Craft and Design centre and also Ilva, with very nice lights and coffee shop.
Latest albums c/o bbc radio 6 and Steve Lamac, Amy Winehouse (v good) and The Bluetones (v bluetones).
A and I have made a move on a property on the fashionable Newland Ave district, continental wining and dining will soon be foisted onto the locals, god help em.

ipod - Madeleine Peyroux - 'Half the perfect world'
Happy Halloween, one chappie at the door plus mask - took one celebration out of the tin to much chagrin - expecting money methinks, ha - trick it is.... Further doorbell ring at 20:45hrs, ignored...
Madeleines latest CD is a bit special, even after only a couple of listens, is this a good sign?
Jury service v trying and stressful, sworn in twice, resat and then disbanded, many of the jury admitted to having less than a good nights sleep due to hearing 7 counts of unlawfulness, three days to go.
A has been made redundant, what luck. Launched headlong into getting the business up and running, free business set up courses a gogo.

It's Saturday night and strictly x factor
Telly, telly and more telly, Eton Road are already approaching cultural icon status and as for the dancing, wow. I must get out more.
Tony Bennett still crap at 80, everyone clapping along, bless. Oh no he's singing another one, someone get the hook.
'For once in my life I won't let sorrow hurt me, not like it's hurt me before', go Tony.
Lazy Saturday, paper reading, dog walking and bread making.

Watching 'Coast' on the Beeb
No updates for a while, shame on me. Back from Rome last Thursday, had a great time with A and L. Catacombs, Borgheses Gallery, St Cecilia in Trastevere. Lots of lovely meals and an audience with the pope, outdoor performance outside St Peters, funny seeing him being whizzed around the crowd in his pope mobile.
Managed to shop and walk for miles and miles. Walked back from the Catacombs due to an accident on the metro. We arrived on Monday and caught, after a quick expresso, the Leonardo Express into Rome and then a taxi to the hotel. Changed and had a drink at our local bar and then onto dinner. Lots of lovely food and gelatos followed during the next three days. Had a fantastic lunch at a small restaurant in Trastavere, we sat next to the bishop of Boston!
The Pantheon at night and the Trevi Fountain, with only a couple of people hanging around, was amazing, hearing the water as you approach the square, wondrous. The Spanish steps at dusk also v special as was shopping down Via Condotti. Managed to purchase a fantastic pair of Italian shoes with the latest parrot beak effect toe and also a winter scarf from David Mayer which cost more than the shoes. A lost it and purchased whole outfit and coat at David Hamilton, self service has not caught on in Rome and the assistants are very good, you are a uk size 30’’, after the first 5 seconds!
Sitting, drinking wine and people watching in Rome is one of my all time favourite things to do. The best dressed people in Europe by far. Oh well Rome on the telly in a mo.
Holiday blues have set in since my return, on Jury Service this and next week for my sins and then off to Manchester for Scissor Sisters, and then back to work….oh no…..work!

Waiting for Rome
Watching 'A year to pay the mortgage', doing up a house or dun in Fez, Morocco. My god what a task for two graduates to tackle. The most amazing house, all rooms looking onto a central courtyard. Fantastic mosaics but such a huge amount of work to do and no potential buyers.
The antibiotics are not really working, still have a dodgy throat, hoping I'm better soon, very bored of not being on top form.
Dog is barking to go out, arragh.

Shine - on the telly
Last few days ill with a Prescott neck and flu like symptoms, my 10 day course of antibiotics is kicking in so should be on the up. Totally exhausted after minor exertions like walking the dog, lifting the remote, etc.
Caught the Leeds piano festival on BB4, I will get tickets for 2008!
My first class at the city and guilds went along fine until the presentation! My class mate presented what could only be described as an ex Harrods shop display for her bread, whereas I had a borrowed yellow napkin and oval chopping board! I will have my revenge.

Watching Fred Dibnah after a 12 hour shift!
Major washer trauma, ‘It’s not the washer that’s leaking it’s the stop tap’!!
Major card and present buying trauma for L and Rs civil ceremony on Sunday, that I’m missing as it’s a surprise weekend away c/o A, hmmm difficult choice.
Too many traumas for one month, I need a weekend away.

Sunny Sunday in September
Lazy day today, planning gave way to a venture out to a new outlet for local produce which turned out to be yet another garden centre flogging expensive organic stuff which is out of most peoples pockets, I mean £1.90 for a posh tube of crisps. Ice cream more expensive than Ben & Jerrys it's just not on.
The place had the saving grace of a superb aquatic centre, local tropical fish from Maidenhead. Masses of tanks of fab fish and assorted plants etc. As fish are in deperate need of a water change.
Drove around soaking up the autumn sun. More planning tonight will almost certain turn into a drink out, I blame the weather.

Saturday - last night of the proms
‘9/11 is me favourite disaster’ P at work makes another jaw dropping statement, ‘I can’t get enough of it’, TV this week has been full of documentaries/docudramas, must admit I’ve watched most of them.
The Steve Irwin jokes abounded days after his demise, ‘Stingray’ will never be the same. Black humour is one way of coping with bad news I suppose!
A and I are onto a new business venture, requires funding, we have twenty percent, just need some sweet talking and a neat business plan.
Walked the dog with Ma on the south beach at Bridlington, lots of families and windcheaters, breeze of the sea, face now looks to have been sandblasted thank to the clear skies and warm sun.
Night out with work last night, managed to stay upright, bad head this morning though thanks to the many shots supplied by loving work colleagues, ‘shit on the grass’ god love em.

Jazz at the Proms
Super boring day at the office. When one member of the team returns from a stroll out the office quips such as ‘We’ve been really busy, we’ve only just this minute sat down, rushed off our feet’, it’s hard to be rushed off your feet when your sat at a pc all day!
The proms looks half empty tonight, not into Bernstein, Gershwin or Bluenote, pity.
P had his tesco delivery who substituted his premium coleslaw for economy, which according to P is like lots of shredded white cabbage that someone has just spat on! He over dramatises …

On the Telly - Proms - Shostakovich's Leningrad Symphony
Manchester on Bank Holiday Monday, lunch at the printworks, pizza express. Lovely last day at Pride, drinks at Malmaison or should I say champagne cocktails, all the planters outside engulfed in luxury huge pink silk ribbons. A and I thought it was for a wedding.
Speaking of weddings L at work had the civil partnership this weekend to R, sporting a very glamorous ring on the left hand ring finger.
Very slow day at work - ten days off and completely for log in details etc, etc, such a dedicated employee….

BBC2 waiting for ‘Equator’ to start.
Week off and what a week. Managed to get the dining room painted and decorated c/o Laura Ashley , now the proud owner of a feature wall, i.e. black wallpaper with gold motifs. V tasteful!
Hull Screen with A and L, pre pizza express pizza and onto the main feature, a documentary of the Ballet Russe, two rival troupes dancing in war time America, interviewing many of the octogenarian dancers at a reunion in 2004. All sprightly and some still on the stage, looking back at their dancing days, amazing stuff.
Watching much proms this week. Mahler’s 5th a highlight. Such great performances and orchestras, all great apart from John Sessions cannot do live telly anymore, completely lost the plot last night.
Nephew Rs engagement party to A last night, still talking about a family exodus to Spain after the wedding next year!
Off to Manchester tomorrow for some Bank Holiday fun. I’ve been in search of a red shirt all week so one may turn up, although I think I’ve missed the boat as Ant of Ant and dec fame had one on while presenting celebrity golf and the lead singer for Franz Ferdinand had one on at Fridays performance at the Reading festival.
